Context

The explosion of data coming from small, self-powered and wireless devices is shaping the way industries are managed today, creating unprecedented opportunities for the industrial sector.

Many scenarios and implementation can be considered such as asset tracking, big data analytics for even more operational efficiency or building management with the monitoring of temperatures and humidity among others.

These new approaches made possible by IoT can be implemented in multiple markets including Smart Building, Energy or Transportation to name a few.

To meet these new challenges, supervision systems evolve and integrate communication with IoT equipment while benefiting from the fundamentals of data processing, control and security. The ability of existing SCADA systems to offer hybrid solutions integrating new connected objects has many advantages:

ü Wireless technology so no wiring is required: time and money savings

ü SCADA data processing

IIoT technologies

The IIoT technologies is based on wireless low power components that send very small messages on long distances.

It uses the subscriber/publisher method: connected objects publish their messages to a gateway called broker and any systems can retrieve the messages asynchronously as a subscriber. This method allows to handle a large amount of data compared to the polling method.

Integrate IoT at the heart of your application

One can wonder where to start among this sea of wireless technologies. First, it is important to identify your need, selecting the right provider and the right configuration for your IoT application is essential.

What kind of network is used for IIoT?

IIoT uses specific networks called LPWAN for LowPowerAreaNetwork.

It’s important to note that there’s 2 types of networks, private and operated:

Private networks such as LoRa : in this case messages are sent to a broker (a gateway) on premise. There’s no need to be connected to an external network nor a cloud and there’s no subscription for fees.

The second type of network is an operated network such as Sigfox. In this case the broker is in a cloud and is operated by the operator which requires subscription fees.”

At PcVue, we have developed an IoT Solution that features the private network LoRaWAN, a communication technology that can reduce the energy consumption of connected objects while giving them more than 10 years of autonomy by exchanging data at low speed.

With the IoT Starter Kit, PcVue provides a turnkey solution that facilitates the integration and treatment of IoT data to your PcVue application and your mobile apps in 3 simple steps.

This ready-to-operate package comes with 3 preconfigured sensors, 1 configured LoRaWAN gateway

LoRa acquisition protocol to add to PcVue license or a PcVue HMI 75 CPT station, sets of graphical libraries, data treatment and communication with chosen IoT sensors, as well as technical assistance in your facility by our support team.

Once you have mastered the entirety of the Starter Kit’s technical aspects, you can deploy the PcVue IoT Package offer on one of your sites. It will allow you to answer to new accessible use cases such as the Grenoble Alpes University Hospital. A project integration IoT equipment with an existing Building Management System (BMS) using LoRaWAN technology at the heart. Learn more on this use case on our blog!

Lorem Ipsum is simply dummy text of the printing and typesetting industry. Lorem Ipsum has been the industry’s standard dummy text ever since the 1500s, when an unknown printer took a galley of type and scrambled it to make a type specimen book. It has survived not only five centuries, but also the leap into electronic typesetting, remaining essentially unchanged. It was popularised in the 1960s with the release of Letraset sheets containing Lorem Ipsum passages, and more recently with desktop publishing software like Aldus PageMaker including versions of Lorem Ipsum.
