Applies to:

PcVue all versions.

Summary:

This article describes how to improve detection of disconnection from a TCP/IP network.

Details:This article is for use with:

  • Multi-station PcVue (Full TCP/IP or NetBIOS over TCP/IP).
  • Ethernet protocols such as Open Modbus TCP/IP.

Solution

You can adjust this by modifying Windows Registry.

Warn

Back up the Registry first, e.g. by using its File.Export facility.

All of the TCP/IP parameters are Registry values under the following key:

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE
\SYSTEM
\CurrentControlSet
\Services
\Tcpip
\Parameters

Parameter

The parameter to add is TcpMaxDataRetransmissions.

RegEdit_dialog_TCPIP_disconnect_time_param

Tuning

Setting

Default value of 5 is too high for a 100 Mbit network.

  • With a value of 2, the time to detect disconnection is reduced (around 3 times better)
