Summary:Description of the TRACE.DAT file

Details:

Information – such as errors with use of resources when running a project – are saved in two places:

  • In memory. The information stored in memory is displayed in the Event Viewer. Press the F7 function key to access the Event Viewer.
  • In files saved to a folder. See About PcVue Audit File for its location.

The information in the Event Viewer is copied to a TRACE.DAT file. PcVue saves the last nine such files as TRACE1.DAT, TRACE2.DAT,… TRACE9.DAT. When you start a PcVue application, the new TRACE.DAT file is saved as TRACE1.DAT, the previous TRACE1.DAT as TRACE2.DAT, the TRACE2.DAT as TRACE3.DAT, etc.

Here is an example of a line in a TRACE.DAT file:

03/07/00,09:21:49,9,I,,16502,,9,BLK,No user DLL to load

Note

When an option of -ansi or -ansip is used, the trace files (T, TRACE>DAT, etc.) are saved in ANSI format.
