Details:

  • Execute the following command line in a MS-DOS window:

net time [\\computer name | /domain[:name]] [/set][/yes]

  • In Windows 95, 98 and NT operating system, click Start.Execute or Start.Run.

The Net time command enables you to synchronize the clock of a computer in relation to that of another computer or a domain.

\\computer name

Replace computer name by the name of the server on which you want to display the time or in relation to which you want to synchronize the computer.

/domain[:name]

Specify the domain in relation to which you want to synchronize the computer.

/set

Synchronize a computer clock with the computer or domain time specified.

/yes

If you use only the parameter /set, an MS-DOS prompt will ask you to confirm the synchronization. If you also use the /yes parameter, you will not be asked to confirm synchronization.

How to auto-synchronize your computer clock

You can auto-synchronize your computer during logging-in under a Windows NT domain:

  1. In the NETLOGON folder of your domain server, create a text file called time.dat, containing only this line:

NET TIME \\COMPUTER NAME /SET /YES

  1. In the Administrative tools, select User Manager.
  2. Double-click on the User you want to modify. The User Properties window appears.
  3. Select Profile to access the User environment profile window.
  4. In front of Logon script name, type time.dat, and press OK.
