A Remote Desktop Session can be configured by a .RDP (Remote Desktop Protocol) file. The file is selected using the Remote Desktop Connection dialog that is displayed when a session is initiated.

The following two properties can be used to set the size of the desktop.

desktopwidth i: W
desktopheight i: N

desktopwidth:i: 1600
desktopheight:i: 1200

If the window, in which the desktop is displayed, is smaller than the desktop then scrollbars are automatically displayed.

A third property winposstr:s can be used to position the window. The Microsoft KB article 885187 provides further information.
