Summary:

This article gives information about handling time-outs in multi-station communication.

Details:

In the multi-station configuration menu (Network Stations.Station Configuration.Connection Node Names), the Timeout field is set by default to a minimum value (10 seconds). The minimum value can be too high for some applications. If you try to set a lower value this error message is displayed:

The Send timeout has to be between 20 and 300 seconds.

Solution

To reduce this timeout, you must manually edit the STATION.DAT file (in the C directory of your project). Set the 12th field of NODE record to a value in the authorized range between 5 and 600 seconds.

Note

For consistency and to avoid migration problems later, also change the 13th field of LINK record (for Send Timeout).

Warn

If you apply a minimum value (such as 5 seconds), connection loss could occur while a large file is being transferred across the same network.

For consistency and to avoid migration problems later, also change the 13th field of LINK record (for Send Timeout).
