Summary:

Unexpected behavior during the PcVue installation process.
Originator: JM

Details:

The Log Files are found in the User’s temporary folder unless otherwise stated. By default these folders are:

  • XP, 2003: C:Documents and Settings<user>Local SettingsTemp
  • Vista, W7, 2008: C:Users<user>AppDataLocalTemp

These folders are normally hidden and you may have to change the Windows Folder Settings to display them.

  • XP, 2003: C:\Documents and Settings\<user>\Local Settings\Temp
  • Vista, W7, 2008: C:\Users\<user>\AppData\Local\Temp

For PcVue 10.0

Installation log
– MSIxxxxx.log
Uninstall log
– MSIxxxxx.log

If there are several files, try to select the correct one using the timestamp. Otherwise send the complete folder and the support team may be able to determine the correct one.

The logs for VBA and the WST Demo Portal are included in the main log file (Cf. chained MSI).

Prerequisites main log file
– VSD<xxx>.tmp\install.log

Start screen log file. Created by the task that checks the target OS, the presence or not of IIS and .Net Fx 3.5.1. This exe launches the external prerequisite bootstrapper (depending on platform and current language). It is used when the user selects Install Supervisor or Install Web Supervisor
– ailauncher.log

Installshield log file. Only created if the installation source media is a writable device. The file is created in the SV folder (at the root of the installation package).
– InstallShield.log

Other useful information for all PcVue versions

If necessary it is possible to force the generation of a log file for all Windows Installer use by changing the registry.

  • Under the key: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Policies\Microsoft\Windows\Installer
  • Just create an entry RG_SZ, Name = Logging, Data = voicewarmupx

This option can slow down all installations – do not keep it longer than necessary.
The generated Log files names have the following form: MSIxxxxx.log
