Summary:

How can you easily identify the version of the PcVue software?

Details:

Up until PcVue version 8.10 SP2, the only way of getting full information about the version was from the properties of the Sv32.exe executable. All the information required is in its properties.

What you can find out:

  • if it is for a service pack Service Pack Number
  • Beta or Release as the case may be
  • VBA, if it is a VBA version
  • the Build Number
  • and even the date when it was compiled.

From these versions onwards,

  • 8.10 SP2, build number 9674
  • 8.11, build number 9676

All of the following items are also available from the Event Viewer, as in these examples:

03/12/07,15:38:20:652,6,I,,1,,1,C:\PROGRAM FILES\ARC INFORMATIQUE\PCVUES 8.10\USR\AP_FRA,8.10.9674 SP2 Enable 12/03/2007 03/12/07,16:12:25:144,6,I,,1,,1,C:\PROGRAM FILES\ARC INFORMATIQUE\PCVUES 8.10\USR\AP_FRA,8.10.9674 SP2 Release VBA 12/03/2007

The following information is displayed:

  • <Version Number>. <Build Number>
  • <Service Pack Number> if it is for a Service Pack
  • “Release” if it is for a release
  • “VBA” or “Enable” as applicable
  • and even the date compiled (You may notice that it is in Month/Day/Year format)

And from the About dialog (F4) the following information is displayed:

  • Software line:
    • Version Number
    • Service Pack Number if it is for a Service Pack
    • “(R)” if it is for a release
  • Build line:
    • <Build Number>
    • “VBA” if it is for a VBA version (otherwise nothing)
