PcVue version 8.2 onwards.
Symptom:

An historical configuration based on HDS is configured but the HDS never starts.
Details:

This issue may appear if you installed SQL server 2008 after PcVue or if you updated it from 2005 to 2008. It may also happen after the installation of a PcVue update. To fix this behavior you must reinstall PcVue prerequisite SQL_Server_2005_BC_8.05.2309_x86.

When you insert your PcVue DVD, navigate to Start\ SQLServer_2005_BC_8.05.2309_x86 and reinstall the prerequisite. Once the prerequisite has been installed you must abort the PcVue (un)installation.

The HDS should then work.
Sample with PcVue 12:See with PcVue 12.0.19 for example.Trace in EventViewer give you that the “HDS don’t start normally see the message in HDS.log” but in HDS.log you haven’t got error message.

Fix it by a new setup of prerequisite (seems to be Core Prerequisite)
