Summary:

This article explains how to configure communication between a remote OPC client and PcVue.


Details:

Context : 

This configuration has been implemented with two PC’s belonging to the same domain (‘SV’), one PC runs under OS WS2019 (the OPC server, PcVue) and the second under W10 (the OPC client).

A Domain group ‘PcVueUsers‘ includes several users (ADUser01, ADUser02…). An administrator account is used to modify the configuration.

The different users ADUser01 and ADUser02 haven’t any Administrator privileges and are used on each PC.

1.1 On the two Pc’s, in Windows environment, launch a command line with Start\Run: ‘computer management(run as administrator).

  • Select ‘Local Users and groups’, ‘Groups’, ‘Distributed COM Users’.

  • Right click and select Properties.
  • Add the domain group ‘PcVueUsers‘ (SV\PcVueUsers).

  • And Click [ Apply ].
  • Close the computer management.

1.2  Launch a command line ‘dcomcnfg’ with Start\Run (run as administrator).

1.2.1  Right click on My computer and select Properties.

  • Control “Enable Distributed COM on this computer” is active.

  • Click [ OK ].

1.3  On the PC where PcVue is installed (PcVue as OPC server), expand ‘My Computer’ and ‘DCOM config’.

Search for DCOM application and open properties:

  • ‘SV Application’ if PcVue runs as desktop
  • ‘SV Services’ if PcVue runs as service 

1.3.1 In the General Tab, check the Authentication Level: ‘Default’.

1.3.2  In the Security tab of the DCOM application (‘SV application’ or ‘SV services’).

1.3.2.1  Launch and Activation Permissions, select ‘Customize’ and click [Edit…].

  • Add the ‘Distributed COM users‘ group.
  • Allow all permissions.
