Summary:

This article explains how to deal with error messages 8234, 8235, 14004 and 14005.

Details:

French PcVue: “8234, %s: Erreur de connexion. Utilisez la version 2 ou supérieure du driver
14004, %s: Erreur de connexion. Utilisez la version 2 ou plus du driver.”
English PcVue: “8235, %s: Connecting error. Use driver version 2 or more.
14005, %s: Connecting error. Use driver version 2 or more.”

%s is the database name.

Explanation

PcVue requires at least version 2 of the ODBC driver associated with the database you want to use. If the driver version is earlier than version 2, the Event Viewer will display the above message.

Solution

Check your ODBC driver version, and if it is not the right version, ask your database builder to change the ODBC driver for the latest version.

How to check ODBC driver version

Depending on the ODBC version, the setup menus for ODBC may be different. Here is how to check the version numbers of ODBC drivers, though it may not work for all ODBC versions:

  • In the Start menu, select Settings.Control Panel.
  • Double-click on ODBC Data sources icon.
  • Select the Driver tab. This tab displays all drivers installed. Check that the ODBC driver used by your database is at least version 2.XXX.
