Summary:

This article describes tests of the compatibility of protection keys (dongles) for PcVue and Applicom on a single PC.


Details:

The tests checked the compatibility of keys between PcVue and Applicom Direct-Link SW1000.

The PC was running Windows 2000 and had a USB port and a parallel port.

The kinds of protection key we used were:

Combinations tested

The tests checked all combinations of PcVue keys with the Applicom key

  • Tests performed with PcVue key(s) and an Applicom key

1. Only a parallel Applicom key installed

Operation:

  1. Install only a parallel Applicom key
  2. Launch Direct-Link\Initialisation.
  3. Launch PcVue.

Result:

PcVue launched successfully and running in keyless mode.

Direct-Link loaded correctly

2. A parallel Complete PcVue key and a parallel Applicom key

Operation:

  1. Install a parallel Applicom key.
  2. Install a parallel complete PcVue key.
  3. Launch Direct-Link\Initialisation.
  4. Launch PcVue.

Result:

PcVue launched successfully and running in Complete mode.

Direct-Link loaded correctly.

3. A parallel Development PcVue key and a parallel Applicom key

Operation:

  1. Install a parallel Applicom key.
  2. Install a parallel Development PcVue key.
  3. Launch Direct-Link\Initialisation.
  4. Launch PcVue.

Result:

PcVue launched successfully and running in Development mode.

Direct-Link loaded correctly.

4. A parallel Run–time PcVue key and a parallel Applicom key

Operation:

  1. Install a parallel Applicom key.
  2. Install a parallel Run-time PcVue key.
  3. Launch Direct-Link\Initialisation.
  4. Launch PcVue.

Result:

PcVue launched successfully and running in Run-time mode.

Direct-Link loaded correctly.

5. A USB key Complete of PcVue and a parallel Applicom key

Operation:

  1. Install a parallel Applicom key.
  2. Install a USB complete PcVue key.
  3. Launch Direct-Link\Initialisation.
  4. Launch PcVue.

Result:

PcVue launched successfully and running in Complete mode.

Direct-Link loaded correctly.

6. A USB Development PcVue key and a parallel Applicom key

Operation:

  1. Install a parallel Applicom key.
  2. Install a USB key for PcVue Development.
  3. Launch Direct-Link\Initialisation.
  4. Launch PcVue.

Result:

PcVue launched in Development mode.

Direct-Link loaded correctly.

7. A USB Run–time PcVue key and a parallel Applicom key

Operation:

  1. Install a parallel Applicom key.
  2. Install a USB Run–time PcVue key.
  3. Launch Direct-Link\Initialisation.
  4. Launch PcVue.

Result:

PcVue launched successfully and running in Run-time mode.

Direct-Link loaded correctly.

8. Sentinel System Driver installed by the Applicom (Version 5.41.1) > Sentinel System Driver installed by the PcVue (Version 5.41.0).

Operation:

  1. Install a parallel Applicom key.
  2. Install a USB development PcVue key.
  3. Launch Direct-Link\Initialisation.
  4. Launch PcVue.

Result:

PcVue launched successfully and running in Development mode.

Direct-Link loaded correctly.

9. Sentinel System Driver installed by Applicom (Version 5.41.1) < Sentinel System Driver installed by the PcVue (Version 5.42.0).

Operation:

  1. Install a parallel Applicom key.
  2. Install a USB Complete PcVue key.
  3. Launch Direct-Link\Initialisation.
  4. Launch PcVue.

Result:

PcVue launched successfully and running in Complete mode.

Direct-Link loaded correctly.

  •  PcVue keys without the Applicom key.

Tests performed with PcVue keys only

1. A parallel Development key and a USB Run–time key

Operation:

    1. Install a parallel Development key.
    2. Install a USB run–time key.
    3. Launch PcVue.

Result:

PcVue launched successfully and running in development mode.

2. A parallel Run–time key and a USB Development key

Operation:

  1. Install a parallel run-time key.
  2. Install a USB development key.
  3. Launch PcVue.

Result:

PcVue launched successfully and running in Run-time mode.

3. A parallel Complete key and a USB Run–time key

Operation:

  1. Install a parallel
  2. Complete keyInstall a USB Run-time key.
  3. Launch PcVue.

Result:

PcVue launched successfully and running in Complete mode.

4. A USB Development key and a USB Run–time key, without a parallel key .

Operation:

  1. Install a USB Development key.
  2. Install a USB Run–time key.
  3. Launch PcVue.

Result:

When a USB Run–time key and a USB Development key are installed, only the key installed on the first USB port takes effect.
