Summary:

Configuring the transport protocol

For the TCP/IP transport protocol of these two cards must be configured with addresses of different sub-networks. With it, the IP protocol can identify the correct card from the subnet mask.

For resolution of NETBIOS names, see the topic NETBIOS interface

Details:

Multi-station configuration in PcVue

To optimise data access on the network, two criteria are used: size and duration. When either of these is met, the packet of data is sent on the network. The default values are a size of 30K bytes and 500 milliseconds.

On a network with 100 megabit capacity, these parameters can be adjusted to 60k bytes and 250 milliseconds.

To control CPU loading of a client station (consuming variables) that receives notifications of value changes from the producer stations, flow regulation parameters are applied to the external variables. The default settings are a stopping threshold of 40 and a starting threshold of 50.

Note

These defaults are out of date in terms of PC performance (now around 5 to 10 times more powerful than previously). For recent PCs, you are advised to use settings of 400 and 500 instead.

  1. Select the menu configuration.Communication.Queue Regulation to open the Variable Queue dialog.
  2. Click on the Regulation button to open the dialog Regulation of Waiting Variables

Multistation_TCP_IP_delay_settings_dialog

  1. Adjust the settings then click on Validate, Save and Cancel; then close the Variable Queue dialog also.
