Summary:
If PcVue version 8.10 is installed on a station where there was a previous version (8.00, 7.20x), the Sentinel protection key cannot be seen by either of the versions. |

Details:
PcVue version 8.10 uses Driver Sentinel Version 7.3.0. PcVue 8.00 and earlier versions use Sentinel Driver Version 5.41. There is no problem with having multiple Sentinel drivers on a PC using parallel port keys. On the other hand, the USB driver versions 5.41 and 7.3.0 are mutually incompatible. You can then use one of the following workarounds Work-around (1) If you have a parallel port on your PC, you can use a parallel key. Work-around (2)
During installation, use the Custom installation and select the components ‘Sentinel Protection Server’ and ‘Sentinel Keys Server.’ Sentinel Driver 7.3.2 is available on a PcVue CD (since 8.10 SP1 Release) in the following directory Sv\Sentinel\Sentinel Protection Installer 7-3-2 or on the Safenet Sentinel website Work-around (3) Before using one of the versions of PcVue:
De-install must be done via Windows Control Panel: Add/Remove Programs. The entry ‘Sentinel System Driver’ lets you remove the software of version 5.41. You can run the installation from the PcVue installation media:
If you don’t do the installation in this way, in the case of the driver 7.3.0, select the Custom installation and select the component ‘Sentinel Protection Server.’ Solution of the problem Version 8.10 Service Pack 1 replaces version 7.3.0 of the driver with version 7.3.2 which does not have the incompatability issue. |
