After PlantVue is de-installed, the Office 2003 applications no longer work. They display a message about a missing or corrupt file. This appears to be due to PlantVue and Office 2003 using different versions of VBA (6.2 & 6.3).

In particular, removal of VBA with PlantVue deletes the Registry key HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\.pip, but the Office applications cannot run without it.

Solution

Restore the missing key as follows:

1. Open the Windows Registry Editor (Start.Run.RegEdit.exe).
2. In the folder HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT, select the key named ‘.pip’.
3. Double-click on its ‘Default’ name to open the Edit String dialog.
4. Enter a value of ‘PIPFile’.

5. Select OK to close the Edit String dialog, then select File.Exit to close the Registry Editor.
