PcVue 11 onward.

This article and its attachments were last updated for version 1.2 of the Add-on.

Summary:

The Topology Engine add-on is designed for dynamic coloring of single line diagrams in PcVue mimics.

The aim of this add-on is to calculate the distribution of voltages across an electrical grid that may not be fully equipped with voltage sensors. It allows visualizing the presence or absence of voltage on all busbar and feeders, a feature also known as dynamic busbar coloring.

Details:

Dynamic busbar coloring gives the operator a quick overview of the state of a substation or other voltage distribution and shows, at a glance, whether any specific part of the substation (e.g. busbar segment) is earthed, energized, or de-energized. This function helps to prevent incorrect switching decisions, especially in emergency situations.

In addition to graphic animations in single line diagram mimics, the calculation results can be used to log and alarm voltage presence/absence, power sources state…

Starting with PcVue 11, the runtime dll of the Topology Engine Add-on is delivered and installed with PcVue. This article and files attached contains set up instructions.

File Description
TopologySvmgr_UserGuide.pdf This document includes explanation about how the Add-on works, as well as instructions on how to set it up (section 1 & 3).
It can also be used as a reference guide for configuration (section 2).
Folder BIN [In DynamicBusbarColoring.zip]
This folder contains the Topology Engine and the Configuration Tool you can use to define your network topology and create the skeleton of your PcVue application.
Folder LIB\SH_ELEC_COLO [In DynamicBusbarColoring.zip]
This folder contains the shared library used by the Dynamic Busbar Coloring sample project. Using this library also requires that you have the SH_ELEC shared library installed.
Folder USR\DemoDynamicBusbarColoring [In DynamicBusbarColoring.zip]
The demonstration PcVue project. You need both the SH_ELEC and SH_ELEC_COLO shared libraries for running this project. See section 10 of the User guide to learn more about this demo project.

Licensing and Demo mode:

Using this Add-on requires an option on your license – Contact your sales representative for more information.

In Demo mode, the Topology Engine Add-on runs for 1 hour, after which voltage calculations stop. The Demo mode is limited to 25 items (switches and transformers).

This add-on is supplied as-is. Using it implies the acceptance of the PcVue license agreement.
