Applies to:

PcVue all versions.

Summary:

Error messages can appear when you are creating the NetBIOS name.

Details:

When the messages Error creating Server name and/or Error creating client appear in the Event Viewer, possible causes are as follows.

  • The Lana number used in PcVue (default is zero) does not exist in the operating system NetBIOS interface:
    • Using NT, right-click on the Network Neighborhood icon on the Desktop, and select Properties. In the Services tab, double click the NetBIOS Interface icon. The Lana number should be visible.
Using Windows 95, clear all protocols, add the required protocol. (As it is the first protocol, it will automatically have Lana number 0). Then add the other protocols.
  • The station name used in PcVue will already have been created in the network. The name created by PcVue is the station name with S0 for server connection and C0 for client connection. In this case:
    • Change the station number in INI.DAT to start your application with another station name.
  • Check in STATION.DAT that the line beginning with NODE has not been duplicated. This line is situated behind each STATION line. In this case:
    • Erase the redundant line.
  • Bad number in INI.DAT file. The station number in INI.DAT file is not declared in the multistation configuration (STATION.DAT file).
